We are delighted to have partners in our aim to change the world through bread
Here is a sample of some of our generous partners – whose products we love and whose generosity we appreciate enormously.
Wessex Mill. Based in Wantage, Oxfordshire, The Munsey Family have been milling local wheat for over 100 years. With a range of different grains, and an enthusiastic baker named Emily to test their flours, Wessex Mill can be relied on for all of your baking needs.
Stoate’s at Cann Mills. Based in Shaftesbury, Michael Stoate stone mills wonderful flour, both organic and non organic. He buys as much grain as possible from local farms, within 100 miles of his doomsday book listed, water-assisted mill. Michael chooses to include plenty of bran and germ in his white wheat flour which bakes into a glorious off-white coloured loaf.
Gilchester’s. Based in Northumberland, Billie and Andrew Wilkinson decided to mill their own organic grain when they could not find a mill to suit their needs. They stone mill organic heritage grains, including Emmer and Einkorn as well as delicious rye, spelt and heritage wheat.
Marriage’s. Base in East Anglia, Marriages produces a variety of organic and non organic grains, some of which are milled using horizontal French burr stones, and others are gently roller milled.
Shipton Mill. Based in the Cotswolds, Shipton Mill produces a broad range of organic flour milled from a large variety of grains.
Paul Merry at Panary. Paul Merry has worked in the world of bread for many years and teaches baking courses in his kitchen just outside of Shaftesbury, Dorset. Bread Angels make an annual trip down to Panary to do a day’s course with Paul to continue to improve their skills.
The School of Artisan Food. SAF has been running for over a decade teaching a range of short and long courses in most aspects of artisan food production, including baking. Many Bread Angels have made the delightful trip up to Nottingham to learn from their baking masters, and continue to improve their skills.
Becketts. Becketts is one of the UK’s leading providers of all sorts of fantastic baking equipment (the big stuff like ovens, not the small stuff like tins). If you need new or second hand equipment, Martin will certainly help out a Bread Angel. He also provides Bread Angels with various valuable discounts on Rofco ovens.
Chandley Ovens. Chandley ovens is one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of commercial baking equipment – all made in the UK! The Compacta Pico range are a terrific addition to any small bakery because of their small size and brilliant performance.
Matthews Cotswold Flour. Specialising in organic, French, and Cotsworld flour, they have been milling and supplying home and professional bakers for over 100 years.
